Olofsfors edge steel and wear bars have now been given a name – Bruxite. Bruxite in the edges and wear bars of your tool are a guarantee of quality. Bruxite is manufactured by the same welltried high-strength boron steel that Olofsfors has manufactured bucket steel from for several decades. All shaping of Bruxite edge steel and wear bars takes places in an unhardened state, which gives optimum hardness and strength right through the steel. Bruxite edge steel and wear bars satisfy high tolerance requirements as regards hardness, straightness, dimensions and surface smooth- ness laid down by, among other things, modern robot welding. This high quality is a result of Olofsfors’ knowledge and continual development within processing methods and hardening processes for wear steel. The steel’s special alloy and Olofsfors’ hardening processes give Bruxite edge steel and wear bars excellent welding properties, hardness, depth and toughness. Bruxite edge steel and wear bars are available in a great number of standard profiles and dimensions for excavators, wheel-loader buckets, dumper platforms and other machines and tools. The perforated edges and bolt-on edges that Olofsfors offers are manufactured according to exactly the same process, which ensures optimum durability and performance.
Bruxite edge steel and wear bars – a guarantee of the highest quality.
The company of Olofsfors was founded in 1762. Since its conception 250 years ago, it has been producing world renound high quality steel products. To this day, production is still at the same place located in the Northern part of Sweden. Three families have been involved since the begining of our dynamic company: Jennings, Pauli and Wikstrom. The proud Wikstrom family have been owners since 1864. From 1762 and up until the late 19th century, Olofsfors produced steel from its own mill. Since the late19th century Olofsfors has been focused on producing special and hardened steel products. This focus has produced the absolute best and highest quality of wear-resistant steel products in the world, resulting in Olofsfors becoming a contracted supplier to many well known Large Equipment Manufacturers.
The Olofsfors business model still holds true today: produce high quality steel products through a focused mixture of knowlege and durability, adding value to our partners’ products.
BRUXITE XT is a special steel within the Bruxite family developed to handle the extremely tough demands placed on wear edges with thicknesses of 50 mm or greater.
Extremely good welding characteristics – high crack resistance to handle tooth holder welding.
High impact strength and high crack resistance to withstand extreme stress.
Extremely good durability – maximum hardness and maximum wear resistance to the very tipof the cutting edge – longer lifetime than wear edges cut from tempered steel plate.
The optimum characteristics of BRUXITE XT wear edges are achieved through the use of a special alloy, specially developed heat treatment and by cutting before the tempering process.
BRUXITE XT is harder and has greater durability than 400 Brinell steel and better welding characteristics and higher crack resistance than 500 Brinell steel. Shaping the wear edge before tempering provides beveled cutting edges with maximum hardness and durability. This extends edge wear time and reduces wear and crack risk between tooth holders compared to wear edges cut from tempered steel plate. The impact strength of BRUXITE XT is extremely high even at low temperatures in order to cope with the brutal forces wear edges are exposed to even in the most extreme conditions. BRUXITE XT’S excellent welding characteristics also reduce the risk of cracking during repair of wear between tooth holders, which radically extends bucket lifetime before replacement of the complete cutting edge.
